War Victims
INTRODUCTION
To be recognized as an Antillean War Victim, a special committee drafted three categories, shortly after the end of the war:
1. All persons who were born on Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius or St. Martin and were killed, anywhere in the world.
2. All persons of Netherlands nationality who died on one of the six islands, or on board of a ship registered on one of the islands.
3. All persons of Netherlands nationality who died while being residents of one of the six islands, regardless of where they were born.
In the overview below the following information is given: LAST NAME, first name(s), position/rank/organisation, place and date of birth, place and date of death, circumstances of death, place of burial
Note. If the name is followed by an asterisk (*), this signifies that the name of the victim is currently not yet displayed on the National War Monuments on the islands. This person was found through later research in archives and collections and has been recommended for inclusion on the National War Monuments. The ultimate decision however rests with the authorities on the islands.
